San Vito lo Capo is located on the west coast of Sicily, on the peninsula of the same name that ends with Capo San Vito , with the Gulf of Macari to the west and the Zingaro Reserve and the Gulf of Castellammare to the east.
There is a three kilometer long golden sandy beach.
The city was founded at the end of the eighteenth century, at the foot of Monte Monaco, in the very white bay between Capo San Vito and Punta Solanto. Traces of the Paleolithic, Mesolithic and Neolithic eras can be found in the numerous natural cavities, once houses , that overlook the sea. The existence of an ancient hamlet, Conturrana, remains shrouded in mystery, an immense cliff 500 steps from the coast detached from the mountain.
