The Porte di Valle was built in the late 6th century - early 5th century BC . It is located in a valley and provided natural access to the old city.
It is part of the lower defensive wall, protected by two towers (VII and VIII) , initially with an opening 6.60 m wide, later reduced to 2.90 m. The towers and new environments were then transformed into a powerful device for housing war machines, as evidenced by the presence of a warehouse where 120 catapult balls were found.
At the beginning of the 1st century BC and the following century, the defensive sector in the Porta di Valle area fell into disuse and an oil mill was built on the ruins.
