Bergamo Cita Alta + Parco dei Colli

Visit of the old city and the San Vigilio Castle (by foot), beginning at the train station. Right after the castle, a traitorous and surprisingly steep decent on a wet (even in the driest of summer) and muddy path filled with small boulders forces a higher degree of difficulty than necessary. This path may be omitted by following the main road down the valley, but this obviously makes for a less relaxing and picturesque walk.

Sightseeing in the old town:
- Enter the Città Alta via the Porta S. Giacomo
- Walk towards the Piazza Vecchia via the main pedestrian street (Via Gombito). Here, one may visit quite some astounding buildings
- Afterwards, continue via backroads to the San Vigilio Castle for some more stunning views over the Po valley and the Bergamasque Alps
- Decend down the valley, and eventually re-enter the Città Alta via the Porta San Lorenzo, finishing the route with a walk along the old city walls before returning down the stairs to the Lower city
