Müllerthal

This Müllerthal is characterized by the most bizarre rock formations. They were formed after the last ice age. Enormous amounts of meltwater had to find their way through the often narrow valleys. Clay and other soil types were washed away, exposing the underlying, softer sandstone. Through centuries of exposure to rain and wind, it began to take on all sorts of whimsical shapes, which continues to create a fabulous spectacle to this day.
Not without reason is the region also called 'La Petite Suisse' or 'Little Switzerland.'
The rocks themselves are named things like Arendsnest, Preekstoel, and Perenkop. At sunset, it almost seems as if La Petite Suisse is inhabited by the shadows of monsters and mysterious animals.
The village of Müllerthal itself is tiny: it can be one more or less, but according to recent figures, no more than 45 people live in Müllerthal. As mentioned, Müllerthal is more than just a village; it is also the name of the valley through which the Ernz Noire flows.
