Wellenstein: AP and SE4 combination

We did this hike on 10/15/2023

This hike is a combination of the Wellenstein pedestrian and the local hiking trail Elvange SE4

The Wellenstein hiking car is 8 km away, which we found a bit short. In combination with Elvange SE4, the loop became 11 km long. In Elvange we cut a piece of SE4 so we didn't have to be in the village.

The road is 74% paved. That's a good thing, because there are many beautiful views. You can look around without having to pay attention to where to put your feet.

The AP Wellenstein is indicated on one side. From the very beginning, St. Anne's Church, we went in this direction. A 1.7 km climb will take you from 180 m above sea level to 260 m. A beautiful, leisurely climb that offers many overwhelmingly beautiful views of Wellenstein and the Moselle valley. An impressive view of the Perlerhöhe rounds off the graceful panorama.

Once at the top, the route continues around the beautiful Hommelsberg Forest. Forest on the right and many vineyards on the left with roads forming beautiful patterns between the vineyards. A feast for the eyes.

Follow the entrance to the Stelgenweg, where you meet the SE4 marking. We follow it to Elvange, where we can turn off a bit and return to the signposted route. Then you enter the beautifully situated high trail, where farmland borders on the left and individual vineyards on the right. After crossing a part of the forest where the Maus-Ketti-Trimm-Trail has been created, you will reach Kuebendällchen. Here we continue on the AP Wellenstein. After a short walk through the forest, you will reach a viewpoint where the descent to the Wellenstein begins. Stairs and roads will take you back to the starting point.
