The famous cartographer Blaeu moved his printing business to Bloemgracht in 1637. He had a big success with his map printing in 1633. He was appointed the cartographer of the East India Company. As he needed a larger printing company, he moved to the Bloemgracht. He would die 2 years later. The company was taken over by his son Joan Blaeu.
