Oisterwijk is known for its many fens. Traditionally, this attracted visitors from far and wide. The tourists enjoyed the fens to the south of the village. They walked there and in warm weather they sometimes swam in the lakes.

With the owner's permission, the Staalbergven was set up as a natural swimming pool. A wooden house was erected for the swimmers. In 1911 the Oisterwijksche Bad- en Zwemvereeniging (OBZV) was founded and they managed the Staalbergven.

The Staalbergven outdoor swimming pool is beautifully situated in the woods of Oisterwijk. In the summer, the swimming pool is a nice place to relax for young and old. Take a refreshing dip in the natural fen, take advantage of the sandy beach.

The fen is divided into two parts. There is a deep swimming area with a diving platform and a shallow play area on the sandy beach.

Due to a chlorine leak, the chlorine baths are closed. The problem arose in 2022, due to the outdated installations, there was a leak in the chlorinated water system.
