''oldest mill data''
From the 14th century there is a windmill in Terheijden. Around 1355 there was talk of a windmill. Almost 2 centuries later, the Terheijden mill was mentioned. The people who were customers of the mill in Oosterhout and Terheijden were only allowed to go to the new mill in Made when all the mills had been leased to new lease.
'Predecessors of the Eagle''
Predecessors of the grain mill in Terheijden were wooden
windmills. This could be seen on old maps. However, those maps were not very accurate. After all, where was the first mill? The oldest, least known map with Terheijden on it was in 1560. On top of it was a standard windmill.
''Millers on the Eagle''
Nicolaas Damen was the first miller on the Arend. He bought the mill at the end of 1812. Before that, he was a merchant in Wagenberg. He had no son to succeed him. One of his daughters married a miller Cornelis Balemans.
And the company continued this in 1840.
