On the internet it is often mentioned that the Kemnade is located in the municipality of Doetinchem. This may be because the Kemnade regularly had residents who had a connection with Doetinchem, such as Admiral Carel Hendrik VerHuell (in the service of Napoleon) and Misset van de Graafschapbode. Old Ni-js number 44 also contains the oldest history of the Kemnade (a national monument). Finds have been made in the cellar that indicate occupation in the 14th century. The tower dates from the end of the 15th century. In 1956 the Kemnade was rebuilt according to the old drawings of the manor house from 1811, drawn by Q.R.M. VerHuell, a nephew of the admiral.
