The Muntwalwoningen, Muntwal 11-23 in 's-Heerenberg are a national monument. On the corner of the Jodenstraetjen and the current Muntwal in 's-Heerenberg stood a house called the Francken Toorn until 1891. In the 16th century it was owned by Diederik van de Loe, provost of the chapter of Saint Martin in Emmerik. The house was demolished in that year to make way for the brush factory; brush manufacturing was the only industry that 's-Heerenberg was rich in at the time. The factory soon became too small and the brush factory found a newly built home on the Molenpoortstraat on the site where the Molenpoort shopping center is now located.
