When the hawthorn begins to bloom in spring, its beauty is breathtaking. Literal! A sweet, intoxicating perfume rises from the blossom and fills the air. At the end of April, the two-style hawthorn first starts to flower, followed a few weeks later by the monostyle. The difference is - the name says it all - that the monostyle has only one stamp stick and the two-style one has two. Moreover, you can see it in the leaves: the leaves of the monostyle are deeply incised, those of the two-style are somewhat rounder and darker. The special thing is that you can also come across hawthorns that have both monostyle and two-style flowers, because it crosses easily.
