Het Kervel is a country estate just west of Hengelo in the Gelderse Achterhoek. The origin of this house will have to be sought in a havezate.
The house would have been part of the older Meyerinck estate, which in turn was part of the property "Ten Breule". One of the oldest goods and probably the largest in the area. The oldest mention of the Bruil estate in the Gelderland loan deed books dates from 1380 with Griet van Breule as owner. Meyerinck is first mentioned in 1422. A loan deed from 1465 clarifies for the first time that Meyerinck was part of Breule.
