Behind Rosink's farm in the Wewwelstad near the German border was an old changing room intended for campers. Johan Rosink found a few pilots here in the spring of 1943. Johan didn't change his mind and took the pilots to the farm. Here they were provided with dry (Twente) clothes. After some time, the plan was conceived to transport the pilots to the Arboretum, where Cees Sukkel, the gamekeeper of the Poortbulten estate, would temporarily receive them. The transport to the Arboretum was not without danger. There were German guard posts at Keet'n Zwart on the Bentheimerstraat and at the railway bridge over the Dinkel. The trip to the Arboretum was undertaken by bicycle. Both pilots managed to deliver healthy and well to Cees Sukkel. After the war, the pilots visited their temporary accommodation again to thank their 'rescuers'.
