The Monseigneur Laurentius Schrijnenhouse is a former retreat for women and girls. It's located at the Oliemolenstreet at Molenberg in Heerlen. At its back lies the Aambos. The building is named after the 18th bishop of Roermond, Laurentius Schrijnen. Nowadays the building is in use as an office building.
The retreat was built from 1932 till 1933 to a design of architect Frits Peutz. The house is one of the largest buildings Peutz has built and it reflects in many ways examples of his way of working at non-ecclesiastic architecture. It's a businesslike looking building, smooth plastering, few ornaments and lots of glass.
Since 1999 the Schrijnen house has been renovated and restored to its original state of 1933. This renovation earned the National Renovation Prize in 2003.
