Description

Between Borger and Buinen lies the valley of the Voorste Diep. The Front Deep is a
unique geosite; It is an (ice meltwater) breakthrough valley and dates back to the
penultimate ice age, the Saalian period. At the weir you cross the Voorste Diep. You are now
between two elevations in the landscape: the Hondsrug and the Buunerbult. The valley
is the only one of the erosion valleys that cuts through the Hondsrug. On this main valley
several smaller valleys, such as the depression through which the Bronnegerstraat
from Buinen to the north, or the depression at Bloemendellen.
