It was not until 1900 that Vinkel got its own church. Before that, the Vinkelaars walked across the narrow Kerkdèkske to the church in Nuland, a walk of about an hour.
Nowadays, that walk, which has been made countless times by thousands of churchgoers, can be completely revisited. The Maasdonk Landscape Interest Foundation has made the disused path passable again and installed a new footbridge. The A59 can be crossed via a pedestrian tunnel, which has also been given the name Kerkdèkske.
The Kerkdèkske is part of the Vinkel-Nuland detour, a walking route of about 8.5 kilometers through the outskirts of Vinkel and Nuland and located in De Hooge Heide, a varied landscape between Rosmalen, Nuland and Berlicum.
