Berceaus
The old map from 1754 of the Eult differs little from the current Baarnse Bos, except that it was much larger to the north. Special in this forest are the berceaus (beech corridors). These are romantic hiking trails with beech or oak trees on both sides whose branches are curved over the path. White skin was the ideal in that period. By taking a walk in the shade of the berceau, the skin was not exposed to sunlight. The berceaus run from the buildings opposite Soestdijk Palace to the Kleine Kom (some call this the Lindenkom). Originally, a berceau also ran in a large circle around the pond.
