The Braakloop is the name of a sometimes dry stream that originally originated on the Kerkeindsche Hei. When part of that heath was mined in the last century, the stream was extended to drain the excess water from the mining area. Even now, it still has that function. The name Heiloop that you find on some maps can therefore be explained.
A few hundred meters further in a northeasterly direction it flows into the Rietven. That pond finally discharges its water back onto the Reusel where a simple bridge offers the pedestrian the opportunity to overcome that obstacle. The Rietven is an Eldorado for all kinds of birds due to the combination of vegetation and open water.
