Centuries ago, probably as early as 1549, a chapel was built on this site, initially a small chapel of the Virgin Mary. Now, in the shadow of the parish church, there is a beautiful chapel that was completely restored in 1960 and is now dedicated to Anna, the mother of Mary.
It has long been a place of pilgrimage that attracts pilgrims to Molenschot every year, especially around 26 July, Anna's name day.
Single women came and come from far and wide who pray to Saint Anne in the hope of finding a husband.
The saying: "Anneke, Anneke, give me a man" may not be heard, but it does sound in the heart of many a young woman.
That it is not only about girls who are searching, is evident from another proverb:
"To Molenschot every Anneke goes for a man, every man for an Anneke".
