The Chapel of the Holy Oak (Heilige Eik) is a place of pilgrimage west of Oirschot in the valley of the Beerze.
Legend has it that a couple of shepherds somewhere in the beginning of the 15th century found a statue of the Virgin Mary on the bank of the Beerze and placed it in an oak, after which they fell down in adoration. Residents of Middelbeers took the statue with them and placed it in their church, but the next morning the statue was back in its original place. The inhabitants of Oirschot now came to worship the statue.
