Vineyard Asberg

This vineyard is operated by Wijndomein Heerenhuys der Pley. The vineyard is located on a south-west facing slope of the upper part of the Noordal in the hamlet of Bergenhuizen. The name refers to a former landfill of the remains of wood burning.
There is a solid package of loess of more than a meter thick on this site. Below is beautiful silicon rock from the Hoogcruts Formation that quickly transitions in this area to the gravel mixture of the Simpelveld Formation. This is typical for this upper part of the Northern Mountains. Underneath, at a depth of about four meters, but very easily accessible for the chosen grapes, lies the limestone that is so unique to Noorbeek, the Gulpener chalk.
This combination with the steep slope gives an extremely suitable terroir to produce sparkling wines. That is why 800 vines of Chardonnay, 400 vines of Pinot Noir and 400 vines of Pinot Meunier have been chosen. By focusing the planting specifically on the southwest, the focus is mainly on quality and not on quantity. The choice of sparkling wine completes the wine assortment in Noorbeek.
