Domaine de Winteraecke

In 2008 the realization of the vineyard started. At that time, 737 vines were planted. Until 2019, the wines were vinified by winegrower Landsmann from the Moselle, after which the making of the wine was transferred to Stan Beurskens of Wine Estate St. Martinus in Vijlen.
Grape varieties and wine varieties
In the vineyard there are 704 vines of Pinot Blanc (in Alsace this grape is called 'Clevner', and in Germany 'Weissburgunder'), and 33 vines of Pinot Gris (called 'Grauburgunder' in Germany).
Terroir
The vineyard is located in the northernmost part of the Limburg loess area. The top layer consists of brown and calcareous loess up to a depth of 4 meters. Underneath, the bottom consists of coarse sand, gravel and gravel up to a depth of about 13 metres.
Landscape and climate
The vineyard is located at an altitude of 107 meters in an open area with a perfect position in relation to the sun. The wind has free rein, so that spring frost can be driven away, and in humid weather everything dries quickly. However, good canopy management must be applied against sunburn.
Wine process
Since 2019, the winemaking has been provided by Stan Beurskens of Wijndomein St. Martinus. Fermentation and aging of the wine takes place on stainless steel tanks. This results in optimal freshness and purity of the wines. Between 1200 and 1400 bottles are produced annually.
This wine estate is part of the Route des Vins Sittard.
