This work of art in marble, granite and bronze was created by Chris Ferket (1929).
The nine columns with birds that together represent The King's Peace, per three on a marble pedestal, were placed in 2009.
Chris Ferket (Stekene 1929 – Deinze 2009) was a sculptor and cultural centipede. He wrote poems and organized poetry events. He wrote prose and drama. He reviewed exhibitions . He was a ceramist and teacher of ceramics at the Free Academy in Ghent and Albert Servaes, the expressionist, taught him to paint. Ferket also designed parades and games and inspired tours and parties.
