Klundert played a crucial role in the southern line of defense against the Spaniards. Unfortunately, the city has had to deal with devastating fires and a flood disaster several times. Fortunately, the fortifications around the city have been well preserved or restored, so you can still get a glimpse into the past. After a visit to Klundert, you will continue your walk to Zevenbergen. The history of this city is a testament to remarkable resilience, as it has grown into a prosperous sugar city despite the violence of war and floods.
