Description by the author

A unique cycle route of 59 kilometres connects two remarkable locations: the German War Cemetery in Ysselsteyn in Limburg and the War Museum in Overloon in Brabant. This route is special, not only because of the beautiful rural surroundings you cycle through, but especially because of the confrontation with the tensions from the Second World War. During the trip you are regularly confronted with contradictions such as 'Allied' versus 'German', 'right' versus 'wrong', and especially 'life' versus 'death'. This has led to the name of this bike ride: "On the other side".

The Liberation Route Brabant tells the story of the liberation, but also shows what the Second World War meant for ordinary people in Brabant. Eight cycling routes, spread across North Brabant, lead you past Brabant Reminders stories, listening columns of the Liberation Route Europe, monuments and museums, which together make the impact of the war on North Brabant visible.
