At home in the Netherlands, a number of Fanbassadors set out to discover the most beautiful routes in the Netherlands. This is one of them. Fanbassador gps4all, aka Wim Blomme, came back with this report of his cycling route:
Around 3 pm I checked in at Best Western hotel Baars. Everything went smoothly and parking was possible at the hotel without any problems, but you had to pay per night for that parking. After installation in the room, I started a walk through Harderwijk, a cozy historic city center with its fishing port, a beautiful dike for walking and an artificial beach for the sunbathers, and of course not forgetting the many sights and dining options
Around 7 am we are ready to have breakfast in the breakfast room of the hotel where an extensive buffet was served, so after the nice breakfast I started at 7.45 am on the 67 km route (Harderwijk-Elburg) one of the six Hanseatic circuits.
The first thing I came across was quite modern station of Harderwijk. Past the station I first come across a huge roundabout, since it is for the cyclists, very nicely realized.
After the first 2 kilometers in civilization I drive into the woods and it is all nature to make a first surprising discovery along beautiful cycle paths between forest and dunes with its cozy, beautiful and even many romantic places, after about 30 km. I come across an unmanned rest point along the road where you can buy a soft drink, coffee or small snack and deposit the money in a suitcase. You can also go to the clean toilet and then rest inside or outside on the garden furniture between the farm animals and then continue the road towards Elburg. Along the continuation of the route I come after 6 km Landgoed Zwaluwenburg and 500 meters further the gardens of A. Vogel. These gardens are definitely worth a visit. I only visited the front gardens and the garden shop with its herb garden where you can pick your own tea and have it prepared. You can of course also buy the products of A. Vogel. After the visit I continue the ride and I soon come across the Schouwenburg estate. Now 4 km to Elburg. Arrived in Elburg again with its cozy city center and harbor. Of course with my love for boating I will photograph the boats again. After having a nice lunch in 't Boothuis we could cycle again at full speed towards Harderwijk. In general it is a natural experience, because from just outside Elburg it is all nature again to Harderwijk so it was the rest of the trip enjoying nature with to my great surprise two rest points along the way, one of which was unmanned again and the other you could eat an ice cream and watch the cows being milked mechanically inside the farm.
