Castles Tour Southeast Utrecht 🚗

From/to: start at the parking lot of Maarten Maartenhuis^ (N227), 3941 EH Doorn, municipality of Utrechtse Heuvelrug, the Netherlands. Free parking.

At any time of the year a very nice tour for motorists, motorcyclists and cyclists along 20 castles and knight's homesteads - mainly privately owned - in the southeast of the province of Utrecht. Half of them are located in the rural area of the Langbroekerwetering and the Kromme Rijnstreek. You will drive past 'sumptuous showpieces of power and splendour', which are described separately under Sights:

Maarten Maartenshuis, Huis Doorn* and Moersbergen Castle in Doorn,
castles Broekhuizen (with Michelin star) and Zuylenstein (400 m from the road) in Leersum,
castles Amerongen* and Natewisch (450 m from the road) in Amerongen,
Duurstede Castle* in Wijk bij Duurstede,
gatehouse of Groenestein and the castles Sandenburg, Walenburg (150 m from the road), Lunenburg, Hindersteyn, Weerdesteyn (800 m from the road) in Langbroek,
castles Leeuwenburgh, Hardenbroek (250 m from the N229) and Sterkenburg in Driebergen,
Beverweert Castle in Werkhoven,
Wickenburgh Castle in 't Goy and
Rhijnestein Castle in Cothen.
