Wat Yang Na Rangsi

Wat Yang Na Rangsi is a classic Buddhist monastery on the left bank of the Lopburi River in the Talung Sub-district of Mueang Lopburi District in Lop Buri Province. Wat Yang Na Rangsi is 9 Km South of the town centre on the Lop Buri - Bang Pahan route. The four Buddha images at the temple are made of sandstone and quartz and could have been made during the Lawo period. Wat Yang Na Rangsi Boat Museum is an open wooden pavilion built in 1927 CE typical of the rural central region. Its size is 12.50 by 26 meters. The roof is 2-tiered and 3-planed, with traditional decorative elements such as Cho Fa, Bai Raka, and Hang Hong. Pediments are decorated with gilded woodcarvings and coloured glass mosaics. The floor is made of wooden planks and surrounded by balustrades. This building was an old Sala Kan Parian (gathering hall) in a ruinous state. At first, the temple planned to demolish and replace it with a new concrete building; however, the Lop Buri Monument and Environment Conservation Club started conserving the building. Thus a funding campaign was raised in 1986 CE, which was well-cooperated and successful. After restoration, the building has been converted into a museum of local boats with exhibitions on local ways of life and boats of various types that are becoming rare. A collection of local boats and oars of multiple types are displayed, particularly a rare one-seat barge, which plied local waterways in the old days. This museum has opened for visitors since 1988 CE. A new exhibition hall and souvenir shop were built in 2000 CE, and landscape development was carried out. On the temple premises stands the largest rubber tree in the province.
