Wat Luang is an old temple located in Wiset Chai Chan district, about 2 Km south of Wat Khian along Road #3454. This temple is of the same time period as the monasteries Wat Wiset Chai Chan and Wat Khian. Main feature of this temple is the old ordination hall, which is facing west and its mural paintings. The gable of the ubosot is decorated with stucco design of intertwined sprays (Khreua Thao, a Thai design) and studded with porcelain. The architectural decorative ornament that adorns the tops at the end of the roof (chofah) is here a figure of a celestial being instead of the traditional mythical creature Garuda, resembling a tall thin bird and looks hornlike. This design is attributed to the period of the reign of King Narai Narai (r. 1656-1688). We find the same feature at Wat Nai Dok Nai Thong Kaeo in Ayutthaya and Wat Klang in Samut Prakan.
