Wat Suwan Khiri is locally known as Wat Na Mueang and located in Pak Chan Sub-district. The temple is over one hundred years old and is the very first temple that was built in the province. On the temple premises, there are countless Myanmar art forms which are worth paying a visit. Originally Wat Suwan Khiri was called Suwan Khiritharam and located on the bank of Hat Som Paen in the District of Bang Rin. Due to its location and frequent flooding during the rainy season, the temple was relocated. During King Rama V’s expedition to Ranong on 23 April 1890, acknowledging the flood problem, he advised Phraya Rattana Sethi (Cor Sim Kong) who was Ranong’s governor, to search for a new location and build a temple. The newly constructed temple was built on land granted from King Rama V. A main hall was constructed. The name Suwan Khiri Wihan was granted by King Rama V to the newly relocated temple. The chedi of Wat Suwan Khiri adopts a Burmese architectural style of more than 100 years old. It has a circular base elevated approximately 80 centimeters from ground level. The roof is pointy and 13 meters high. Each of the four surrounding walls is one meter in height and two meters in width. The chedi itself is paved with brilliant white cement while the peak of the artistic roof is adorned with shiny brass and sparkly crystal-like items.
