Wat Sangkhachai Thera is an old Buddhist monastery situated at Suan Taeng on the east bank of Khlong Suan Taeng in Mueang Suphan Buri District. The temple was called before Wat Wang Khong after the name of the village Ban Wang Khong where the temple was built. The legend says that in the past, Chinese people came to farm in this area, and a Sangkhajai Buddha image (Chinese Buddha) was excavated in the vicinity of this temple. The monastery made in 2015 CE a large metal Sangkhajai Buddha image with a lap width of 9 meters and a height of 10 meters in commemoration of the old find. The image is considered the largest in Thailand of this type. A ruin of a prang, dating back to the Ayutthaya era, stands on the premises.
