When people hear the word Los Angeles, they usually think of movie stars – but the city has another claim to fame. Bisected by a mountain range, Los Angeles probably has the most ridiculously steep streets of any US city. Many of them can be found in the Echo Park/Silver Lake area. These four streets were built before LA planners developed more restraint and are in the 32% range. Baxter runs like a rollercoaster, crawling over hills and plunging into ravines. Its terrifying ups and downs make for interesting drives and if you are walking, it will make your knees buckle. Baxter's apex is so steep on either side that buses and other large vehicles have got stuck on it.
