The Pope Lick Trestle Bridge is a railroad overpass and is linked to the legend of the Pope Lick Monster. This murderous goat-man is part-man, part-goat and part-sheep that reportedly lives beneath this Norfolk Southern Railway trestle. The Pope Lick Monster hypnotizes his victims and lures them onto the trestle to meet their death before an oncoming train. There is another version of the story where he attacks his victims with a blood-stained axe. The monster was the subject of a 1988 film by Louisville filmmaker Ron Schildknecht called The Legend of the Pope Lick Monster.
