Greenwich Village was almost completely destoyred by a plan to create a four-lane limited-access highway through this area. Jane Jacobs was the hero during the 1950s and 1960s battling these plans. The man behind the highway plan was Robert Moses. He was the mastermind who reshaped and rejuvenated the infrastructure of the city over alsmot 40 years, in keeping with teh spirit of Le Corbusier.
