Description

The Ark Citadel dates from the 5th Century. The ark is the most ancient archaelogical complex of the city. It has the shape of an irregular rectangle. Its front entrance is decorated with two pillars which are connected by a gallery room and a terrace. From the entance a corridor with prisons and water premises along it leads to the Djami mosque. The Ark was in the middle ages a whole city with the emir's palace, mosques, governmental institutes, shops...
