You can immediately see how strategic this place Bad al-Mandad is on a world map. The strait lays between Djibouti and Eritrea on one side and Yemen on the other. But the geopolitical and geoeconomic importance of this place of course has to do with the passage via the Red Sea to the Suez Canal.
Unstable situations in this area can miss world leaders (and the global economy) like the plague. You also regularly see this in military actions that are carried out here.
For example, in January 2024 an action was carried out with a Typhoon aircraft from Cyprus (only 2600 km from this place) to eliminate Houthi rebels who were "destabilizing" the region.
