The military cemetery on the Grebbeberg near Rhenen is the final resting place of more than 400 Dutch soldiers who died during the May days of 1940 in the battle for the Grebbeberg and its surroundings. These soldiers are buried in the ground for which they gave their lives.
After the capitulation, the Dutch and German victims of the battle were buried here. After the end of the Second World War, the remains of the German soldiers were reburied in the cemetery for German fallen in Ysselsteyn (Limburg). Since 1946, other Dutch soldiers who died during the Second World War have also been regularly reburied on the Grebbeberg. The cemetery now has more than 800 graves.
