Charles Darwin and his brother, Erasmus, walked and mapped the shores of the Esutary of the Firth of Forth in 1826.

They didn''t see yet the impressive Forth Bridge, because that was built about 50 years later.

He was making natural history notes while exploring the shores, studying marine invertebrates with Robert Edmund Grant.

Here he learned the skills for recording facts in his notebooks which would beceom varu essential in his later work on teh Beagle trip.
