The typical form of table mountain known as Skourka between Kornos and Sardes is caused by the type of rock found here: flysch. The hill is topped by a flat and hard sandstone layer. If you take a good look at the slopes of the hill, you will notice the slope had terraces which are now mostly disappeared.
