In 2015, the Highbridge re-opened between The Bronx and Manhattan, the first car-free crossing between the two boroughs. And now incredibly The Bronx has its second in a year with the vital greenway link of Randall's Island Connector. This project has been in the pipeline for what seems forever, but the nonetheless it is finished and open to the delight of many South Bronx residents who have a direct and easy connection to Randall's Island and all of its athletic fields, picnic tables, miles of beautiful greenways and unmatched views of the Manhattan skyline! Advance apologies for a few of the soundbites, when the winds are gusting over 30 mph and you are below the Amtrak train trestle, well that's never ideal conditions. But really kudos to the many hundreds of NYC residents showing up on a cold & blustery Fall morning.
