The Palais Forestier is the work of the Brussels architect Henri Van Massenhove and was built in 1901.
After it was decided in 1891 to transform the demilitarized zone of the citadel into a holiday resort and the immense plateau of the castle into an admirable park, intersected by beautiful walks, dotted with rest areas, groves, kiosks...
A few years later, the Palais Forestier was included in that plan. It was built in 1901 on the occasion of a regional agricultural competition (which was arranged for an international exhibition) to house the Water and Forest and Hunting and Fisheries departments. It was the only building in the exhibition to be preserved and it was planned to subsequently become a Forestry Museum .
After the building was recovered at the end of the lease , the city of Namur started looking for a new purpose and the new Wedding Center was inaugurated in 2008.
