This plaque hangs on the house where Víctor Zurita Soler, a Spanish journalist, was born on July 31, 1891.
His father, Amado Zurita Colet, had arrived to the island from Aragon as a telegraphist, and he himself was head of the Granadilla de Abona telegraph center until his permanent transfer to the headquarters in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, where he remained stationed until his retirement.
His real hobby was journalism, which he combined with his paid work at Telégrafos throughout his life. He started his journalistic career at the newspaper El Progreso, but in his younger years also founded the weekly magazine El Campo and collaborated on many other periodical publications: El Sol, La Esfera, Blanco y Negro, Mundo Gráfico and Avante.
In 1927, together with Matías Real and with the fundamental collaboration of Francisco Martínez Viera, he founded the newspaper La Tarde , which he led until his death and which was the most important work of his life and to which he devoted his greatest efforts.
