The relation between high heels and ancient monuments can be found on the Acropolis of Athens.

In May 2009, the Greek minister of Culture, Antonis Samaras banned the use of high heels climbing the Acropolis of Athens or the theatres around the Acropolis because they are destroying the ancient marbles. Not that climbing the Acopolis is a goode idea anyway.

Have a look at the location page of the Acropolis and the walks in this neigbourhood.
