La escultura, creada por el artista de Palermo Gabriele Venanzio en septiembre de 2014.
Los habitantes de Sambuca siempre han sido etiquetados con el nombre de "sammucari babbaluciari" (visitantes de caracoles) ; Les gusta tanto este nombre que incluso quisieron colocar la estatua del caracol (Vittoria) en el centro de Piazza Vittoria (de ahí el nombre del caracol), a lo largo de Corso Umberto I.
Pretende redescubrir el valor de la inercia , el paso del tiempo visto por un caracol, viviendo su vida lentamente y disfrutándola en todo su esplendor.
La obra fue encargada por el ayuntamiento.
