Zwolle

Rhijnvis Feith, the famous Dutch poet of the 18th century, was born on 7 February 1753 in Zwolle in a wealthy family.

Rhijnvis' grandfather, mayor of Zwolle, lost all his children shortly after their birth, except for one: Pieter. Only Rhijnvis followed from his marriage, who was therefore surrounded with almost excessive care in his youth. The hypersensitivity that the poet will later display can perhaps be attributed to the ever-protective environment in which he grew up.
