Prasat Phum Pon

The large brick structure and the northern one remain in rather good condition and presumably erected in the 6th – 7th centuries. The brick one in the middle and the laterite one in the South were seemingly built later. The Prei Kmeng style, influenced by the Indian art and styles of Phnom Da and Sambor Prei Kuk, is contemporary to the styles of Prasat Adet and Kompong Preah. It supported the development of Shaivism and Mahayana Buddhism. Marked by a proliferation of leafy setting, the first representations of Brahma and the appearance of female statues to the finest silhouette, this style will produce the temples of Prei Kmeng temples, Ta Keo and Phnom Preah Vihear.
