Der Animationspol beschreibt die gesamte Geschichte des Salzwassers. Von seiner Entstehung vor mehreren Millionen Jahren über die Gründung von Salies-de-Béarn und die Entwicklung des Thermalwesens bis hin zur industriellen Nutzung. Der audio-geführte Rundgang ist mit interaktiven Terminals, Videos und Ausstellungsvitrinen gespickt, um die Neugierde eines jeden zu befriedigen.
Heute werden hier jährlich etwa 2000 Tonnen Salz produziert.
Das Steinsalz aus Salies-de-Béarn, das seit 2016 mit dem Gütesiegel Indication Géographique Protégée ausgezeichnet ist, ist das Salz, das im Rahmen der g.g.A. Bayonne-Schinken verwendet wird.
