La scultura, realizzata dall'artista palermitano Gabriele Venanzio nel settembre 2014.
Gli abitanti di Sambuca sono sempre stati etichettati con il nome "sammucari babbaluciari" (lumache visitatori) ; a loro piace così tanto questo nome che vollero addirittura la statua della lumaca (Vittoria) al centro di Piazza Vittoria (da cui il nome della lumaca), lungo il Corso Umberto I.
Ha lo scopo di riscoprire il valore dell'inerzia , lo scorrere del tempo visto da una lumaca, vivendo la sua vita lentamente e godendola in tutto il suo splendore.
Committente dei lavori è stato il Consiglio Comunale.
