Alnwick is een kleine marktplaats in het noorden van Northumberland.
Volgens Country Life, oktober 2002, "is Alnwick de meest pittoreske marktplaats in Northumberland, en de beste plek om te wonen in Groot-Brittannië".
De stad dateert uit ongeveer 600 na Christus, en heeft door de eeuwen heen gedijd als een agrarisch centrum; als de locatie van Alnwick Castle en de thuisbasis van wat in de middeleeuwen de machtigste noordelijke baronnen waren, de graven van Northumberland; als een tussenstop op de Great North Road tussen Edinburgh en Londen, en laatstelijk als een modern landelijk centrum met slaapstad.
