Das Hopfenfeld wurde 2010 auf Initiative von Joris Vanderveken, Edwin Fabri und Willy Marivoet in Zusammenarbeit mit der Gemeinde Asse und der Provinz Vlaams-Brabant angelegt.
Es befindet sich auf einem Gelände, auf dem vor Jahrzehnten bereits Hopfen angebaut wurde.
Zwischen den Hopfenranken befindet sich das Kunstwerk von Peter Schoutsen, wodurch die Stätte als Landschaftselement anerkannt wird.
Die Ernte dieses Hopfenfeldes wird unter anderem zur Dekoration von Festwagen beim Hopfenblütenumzug während der Hopfenblütenfeste in Asse verwendet.
